i can't stress this enough but it is

important to focus on creating more

sustainable packaging designs

in order to meet consumer needs

they want to see change in the packaging

industry and they're willing to pay for

it plus switching to sustainable

packaging is cost effective

so making this change can often lead to

reduced time to packaged products

reduced material costs and reduced

freight costs

this is my packaging and i put every

single one of my jewelry orders in it

it's really high quality felt and i

designed it so that it would keep

precious metals safe away from scratches

plus it's portable very few reasons i

went with the pouch number one people

tend to throw out boxes unless they are

super luxe number two i wanted zero

plastic in my packaging three i designed

the perfect size so you can fit a card

in it even if you don't want to store

your jewelry four it's beautifully flat

which keeps my postage costs low five

it's a branded keepsake which adds value

to your brand as a whole you're packing

my top-selling product with me this

order is actually going to hawaii so a

quick little blurb about my brand is

that i cater to all makeup enthusiasts

but i like to focus on beginners by

labeling the brushes in a memorable way

typically the brushes you own are either

numbered or labeled with no directions

on what it does now back to packing the

brushes are stuffed in my custom makeup

bag and mailer then the inserts go in

the box is taped shut and ready to go

one of the easiest ways to improve the

sustainability of packaging and

distribution is to reduce the amount of

material that you use

size box for your shipment the ideal box

is just large enough to hold your items

with the minimum amount of protective

packaging needed for cushioning

and in addition a smaller box will also

reduce your shipping costs

so that's basically one way of reducing

the volume of packaging materials that

you need

business tip for you all um i wanted to

create an aftercare card for my custom

orders and i know that they can be

costly so what i did was order from

vistaprint as postcards and i just cut

them enough

um as you can see they're super great

quality very thick and

yeah i love them go get it here's how i

print on valentine paper i turn my

transparency down to 50 and can flip

save it as a pdf print here's my printer

setting plain paper draft and borderless

on this is how it looks here's how you

can make thank you cards at home on a

budget i make all my templates in canva

and i use this photo paper to print on i

got it from amazon change your quality

to photo glossy paper and change your

dimensions to 4x6 load your paper with

the glossy side down then you have one

side you can write on and the other side

is glossy

a quick tutorial on how to customize

your own boxes so first i go to pack

lane and i choose a box i want to design

then we're going to select a size they

have a whole bunch of sizes you can

select from

then go straight to design and select

the color i went with sage green because

i love that color

then we're going to upload an image

and we uploaded an image we already had

downloaded it was pretty simple

and then at the very bottom you can

adjust the image however you'd like

then after that you're going to go to

add text and enter a slogan

company name quote doesn't matter

then after doing that you can open the

box and design the interior if you'd

like it's pretty much the same process

as the the front

i was getting ready to package some

orders and it just got me thinking i

keep seeing all these people like all

these small businesses have the cutest

prettiest personalized packaging

and it got me to thinking for all of you

new people that are wanting to start

your own business don't feel pressured

into getting all of this personalized

custom stuff you can make your packaging

look

just as beautiful

on a budget um like when i first started

i got most of my stuff at hobby lobby on

sale in the dollar store like tissue

paper and all that kind of stuff so

don't ever feel like you have to spend

an arm and a leg just to get cute

packaging because

a lot of it can just be really good diy

stuff and you can do it yourself for

cheap

so here's another tip on how to save

money on packaging for all you small

businesses

any packaging that you get from other

companies that you order keep it i

literally reuse all of my packaging and

it saves me so so much money then

obviously as i said in my last video i

rip up any boxes that i have

and i shred them all

it's actually quite therapeutic also for

anyone that was asking about my shredder

in the last video it is a fellowes

powershred m8c i bought this on amazon

for about 55 pound and it shreds up to

eight pieces of paper at a time so it

works perfectly

guys make no mistake functionality is

just as important as appearance when it

comes to product packaging

the design must effectively prevent

damage during the journey between the

manufacturer to the retailer to the end

user

if a product arrives damaged it doesn't

matter how good the box looks

how to make free branded paper tape from

scraps

after making my labels i always have

lots of leftover strips inside i cut

them off and glued them to a scrap piece

of paper i have designed a full page

with my logo on it and i print this

right onto the paper page then once it's

all done i can go ahead and cut the

strips back to their original size

i saw this hack on tiktok and it has

really been a game changer i couldn't

find the original creator so if you know
